Wisconsin

At the end of July this year, we make our annual trip to Wisconsin.  This visit will consist of about 2 weeks.  Our drive from Idaho to Wisconsin which takes about 27 hours.  We use to drive it straight through to get more out of our time visiting.  We don’t do that anymore.

This trip now takes us about 2 and 1/2 days, but we always plan for 3 days of travel time.  Just in case the car breaks down or the weather doesn’t cooperate or we just feel the need for a break from driving.

On this trip, we will see everyone from my in-laws to all of our kids and perhaps a couple of our friends.  Our very first granddaughter arrives around August 3, so we are very excited for her arrival.

Hopefully we will get to visit Devil’s Lake while we are there.  It is in our hometown and my favorite place ever!  If you have never visited, you should.  I promise, you will love it!  I even wrote a fiction book called Devil’s Doorway after a rock feature that is quite popular to hike to at Devil’s Lake.

Our favorite hotels to stay in are the LaQuinta‘s.  They allow pets to stay free and have the nicest rooms plus there is a continental breakfast.  Not to mention that they are not overly priced.

Sarge

We take our pup Sarge along with us.  He is a 5 year old Yorkie, Beagle, Wire Terrier mix and is black and tan.  We have had him since he was 2 months old and got him the same year we bought our house.

He travels with us everywhere we go.  He has traveled to California, Oregon, Utah, Montana, Colorado, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Iowa and of course Wisconsin.  Here is a picture of him at the Oregon coast back in 2018 over 4th of July weekend.

Sarge has traveled within the State of Idaho as well.  We live on the border of Idaho and Oregon along the Snake River.  So we generally make a day trip on the weekends to places like; Hells Canyon, Riggins, and Cascade.  Beautiful scenery along those drives with the longest drive being Riggins.

Sarge loves to ride in the car but his tummy thinks otherwise.  When we are going to take a drive we usually give him a nausea pill an hour before we leave.  Our trips to Wisconsin usually consist of packing the car the night before, giving him his pill a couple hours before we leaving in the morning and then get on the road.

His nausea pill is no guarantee that he won’t lose his cookies in the car, but it helps sometimes.  Those trips within Idaho are the worst because of the curvy roads and ups and downs.  He will be quite pooped out after this upcoming trip to Wisconsin.
